When choosing your new flooring always make sure you are truly happy with it before ordering. Most people keep a carpets down for years, so if you make the wrong decision you will have to learn to live with it.

Consider these points when picking your floor.

Is it the right feel, texture and colour? Does it match the decor in your room? What type of carpet do you think best suits the area it is going into? Always seek advice if you are unsure on the different types of style, it is always best to ask a professional.

Always Make Sure to Order Enough!

Most importantly remember to measure into the doorway! Make sure you always allow extra on your actual measurement. It is much better to have a little waste than not enough! So make sure that there is plenty of carpet to ‘play with’ and you are not left short when it comes to fitting the carpet. No-body wants to have to piece in a join when avoidable.

Which type of carpet should I choose?!

Traditional Carpet. Twist carpets are the traditional pile most people imagine when they hear the word “Carpet”. Almost everybody has a twist pile carpet in at least one room of their house. They predominately have a neutral design. Twist Pile carpets are are soft to touch and hardwearing which makes it the ideal choice for any room. Twist pile carpets tend to be suitable in any area. You will find a twist pile carpet in most people living rooms.

Luxury Saxony. If you prefer the ‘run your fingers’ through it type feel then the shaggy pile is ideal for you. Saxony Carpets have rapidly increased in popularity over the past few year. Giving a luxurious feel to any room. Saxonys are very popular to fit in bedrooms or other areas where you will be walking with bare feet.

Hardwearing Carpet. A Textured carpet tends to be more durable than a twist pile or a Saxony. This is because the ‘looped’ pile maintains its appearance for longer. As with any product there are exceptions. A more expensive twist pile carpet usually lasts longer than a cheaper textured carpet. Textured carpets are commonly called “Berber” or “Loop” style. Berbers tend to have ‘coarse’ feel underfoot so are not suitable for every one. Most commonly used in high traffic areas such as Stairs & Hallways.

Budget Flooring. If you are looking for a temporarily carpet or a quick fix for a room then Cord is ideal to put down short term. It is the cheapest type of flooring therefore we do not recommend using it in the long term. But it is great for when you need any carpet quick. You tend to find Cord at outdoor events and student accommodation.
